Veeam Microsoft 365 Protection provides enterprise-grade backup and recovery for Microsoft 365 environments, ensuring critical collaboration and productivity data remains protected, recoverable, and compliant beyond Microsoft’s native retention capabilities.

The service protects a broad range of Microsoft 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams (including Teams chat, channel conversations, files, and associated SharePoint data). Backups are application-aware and designed to support both granular recovery and full data restores.

Backups are stored within Cloud Propeller’s secure enterprise infrastructure and retained according to customer-defined policies, enabling protection against accidental deletion, malicious activity, ransomware, and insider threats. This ensures organizations retain independent control over their Microsoft 365 data.

Protection is billed on a per-user basis, allowing organizations to selectively protect specific users or groups rather than entire tenants. This model keeps costs predictable and affordable while enabling protection for high-value users, executives, compliance-sensitive roles, or entire departments as needed.

Veeam Microsoft 365 Protection plays a key role in meeting SOC, compliance, and audit requirements by providing immutable backup copies, independent data retention, and documented recovery workflows. It is commonly used as part of a broader business continuity and data protection strategy alongside on-premises and cloud workload backups.
